Physician Assisted Suicide And Euthanasia Essay - 1039 Words
Physician Assisted Suicide Is physician assisted suicide ethical? Physician assisted suicide is an up and coming ethical question that examines a personââ¬â¢s right to their own death. Many people support physician assisted suicide, citing that it can save a lot of pain and suffering. Others claim that the concept of physician assisted suicide is a slippery slope. A slippery slope in the sense that if society accepts euthanasia as a rightful death for the terminally ill, they will potentially accept it for other ailments as well. There are multiple types of physician assisted suicide. Collectively, they fall under the categories: active or passive euthanasia. Active euthanasia is when someone steps in and deliberately ends a life. An example of this would be a physician administering a lethal dose of muscle relaxants to end the life of a patient. Passive euthanasia is best described as when a patient withdraws from a life preserving treatment. Euthanasia in general can also be classified as either voluntary, non-voluntary, and involuntary. Voluntary euthanasia is when a person makes the conscious decision to end his or her life. Non-voluntary euthanasia is when a person is unable to give their consent, and another person makes this decision on their behalf. This usually is the case for patients who are in a coma who have previously expressed this wish. Involuntary euthanasia is when a person is killed against their wishes. 2014 Forest Hills Dr. by J.Cole free essay sample
ââ¬Å"For whatââ¬â¢s money without happiness? Or hard times without the people we love?â⬠One of the many lyrics that leave you thinking. The album has so much diversity and shows us a lot of his life growing up, the pains of being poor, the ambition to make it, his first time, the difference between his home town and being in a city where he knew he was going to become something more. Some of the songs you see the confidence he has in himself and how he beats all the odds to end up on top without fail. This album shows what other albums canââ¬â¢t. J.cole was on a mission and he successfully accomplished it, but even still wasnââ¬â¢t award with a golden globe even though he released a solo album without any features and was still under par in the eyes of the world. This album peaked the billboard 200 at no. We will write a custom essay sample on 2014 Forest Hills Dr. by J.Cole or any similar topic specifically for you Do Not WasteYour Time HIRE WRITER Only 13.90 / page 1 initially selling 354,000 copies. This album is one of the best if not the best representation of being poor and living under harsh and bad environments, but still make a way and beat all of the odds. Personally J.cole is already one of my favorites if not my favorite artist of all time! But to add to the already long list of reasons he is my favorite artist just another thing that makes him even better to me is this accomplishment he was able to bring home to his city of Fayetteville. With this album he holds now 2 out of six spots to ever gone platinum under the record label known as Roc-Nation. The other four spots are held by the founder Jay-Z. A personal note, He is one of the people who actually inspired me to become an artist, and at the same time gave me a sense if understanding of what type of music is truly moving. J.cole puts many things into perspective on this album alone sharing much of his life and childhood experiences growing up. There are also a lot of his opinion on what the hip-hop industry has b ecome over the years. Some of the lyrics actually show you what people are more in tune to and what they care more about. And through his song fire squad you see that even with putting out an album with no features and being nominated for a Grammy that that he still gets beat out by a female artist that thrives through the hype and well composed hooks and beats. But even though this album beat him out for best rap album of the year he still sold so many more albums than she sold. There are so many things that can be talked about due to the fact that his music is constantly rising over another artist making such massive name for himself. He was signed to Roc-Nation in 2007 but wasnââ¬â¢t actually introduced to the industry until 2008 on the founder of the record label album which was the spark of his career. The albums he releases are albums you can listen to start to finish without stopping, but even still this album was under appreciated by so many! This is a concept record abou t a boy finding out his purpose in life but it is written from the perspective of an older and now successful version of himself explaining the facets of fame and superstardom. But at the same time showing how importance of love even with fame.

Dejah Purnell Essays (560 words) - , Term Papers
Dejah Purnell Professor McKinley English 101 December 3, 2017 Course Final This year English 101class has been more helpful than my last year class . English has always been my hardest subject even though my final grade may not be the best I have learned and understood my work better for example, last year we went over rhetorical analyzes I honestly did not understand anything, my professor last year did not take her time to help her students. The most challenging part of this course was the annotated biography. I did not understand the format of the paper I also did not put a lot of time into it and this was a huge effect. I really like when we gave our papers to different people and they proof read it and gave advice. I highly recommend classmate proof reading more often! In the begging of class, we were giving a syllabus it was helpful I put most of the due dates in my phone, I love how the class did not have a book or a n access code. I personally believe why pay 200 or more on a book that we will only use for a week or 4 months. My strength in papers are the format including the web cited, research and editing/proof reading. I feel like I do ok with the work cited if I keep the mla paper next to me to look over the steps. When it is time to search for research I have an easy time but when I had to use the KCC data base I had a hard time finding the correct words to find a scholarly journal. When it is time to type my paper, I have a tough time transferring my paragraphs, sometimes I would get really stuck and will stay in one area for a day or more. I do feel like I am a good proof reader and editor but only for other people paper. When it comes to my paper I would have the hardest time finding my errors. My weakness would be my grammar. I always had a challenging time with my grammar I wish I can take a class that will reteach you the very basic of English, that class will help me out a lot. Supporting my claims is another weakness. I would have a great idea or sentence but would have the worst time trying to explain my thoughts into a sentence, I also would not have enough information to help state my claim. I believe professor McKinley did an amazing job she really cares about her students and related to us in a lot of ways outside of school. She also explains her assignments well and I will always remember my buns and farts. My advice for student next semester would just be don't wait to the last minute, it gets difficult after a while, and if you have any questions just ask if you do not ask you will not understand the assignment well and you will have a very stressful time trying to complete it. This year has been a good and challenging one but if you truly want to succeed you will make it though, it might not be the best, but you have accomplished something and to me that is better than quitting.

Columbine should they restrict cliques essays
Columbine should they restrict cliques essays Throughout the country, in each and every school there are cliques the development of cliques is inevitable. While some cliques deliberately exclude people, most cliques include a group of friends who are very close. As a result the people who are left out of a clique feel lonely and angry. Many outsiders are taunting them every day, which only makes them angrier. Eventually these people snap and take their anger out innocent people. The Columbine shooting proves that. To prevent this the high schools need to establish rules, though not to the extreme. The two killers of Columbine High School were excluding from almost all groups. Anger built up in them and they took action. As a result, almost all high schools decided to enforce the zero tolerance for crime. For example, one high school expelled a boy because he wrote a story about a boy who went on a rampage in literature class. This course of action was too extreme. The high school should have take in consideration whether the boy was a problem student before expelling him. There is really no way you can prevent cliques, just like there is no way you can force a child to be friends with another child. However, there are ways to diminish their destructiveness. Schools should require that everyone has to be included in a school extra curricular activity like sports, drama or newspaper. A school can develop new extra curricular activities pertaining to what the students want. Teachers should also give group assignments or projects and pre-arrange the partners for everyone. These are just some ways to get the kids on the fringe feel a part of a group. One other problem even bigger than cliques is the students part of the in cliques taunt or make fun of the other students who are not in their group. The school should have a rule that if a person picks on another person, they should either be suspended off a team or sus ...

Statistics Help Summarize Data - Essay Example This information will assist them in making decisions relating to the best time to advertise or provide information to the public ââ¬â weekdays or weekends and holidays. STATISTICS Rampell (2012) points out that on average men spent more time watching television than women. However, the main focus was on categories such as: education level; age of children; weekly income; employment (part-time, full-time or unemployed); race; and age group of the respondents. The graph shows that with the exception of the 15 to 19 years age group, the average number of hours spent watching television increases with age. This group spent more hours watching television on weekends and holidays than the 20 to 24 years and the 25 to 35 years age groups. The information in the graph also indicates the following: i. On average Black/African-Americans spent more hours watching television in 2011 than the White and Hispanic/Latino groups; ii. People who are employed full-time spent more hours in 2011 on weekends and holidays watching television than those who were employed on a part-time basis; iii. In terms of income, individuals earning between $521 and $810 weekly watched television for a little over 3 hours per day on weekends and holidays in 2011. This accounts for the most hours spent viewing television on weekends and holidays. ... cle provides a clear picture of the number of hours spent per day watching television by different groups of individuals within the various categories. The graph summarizes a lot of information which if written in words would take comparatively more pages. When information is presented in this way it is easier to grasp by those who understand how to read graphs. However, there are those who do not know how to analyze this type of information and so a tabular form might have been more appropriate. POSSIBLE IMPROVEMENTS The article could have been improved by describing the categories and providing information on whether categories are correlated. Some persons in the age groups 65 to 74 and 75 and older would most likely not be employed or be employed on a part-time basis since they would have achieved retirement age. Rampell (2012) could have established whether a relationship exist between various categories. Most of these individuals might not have gone past high school based on the ir individual circumstances and the time period in which they were born. Older people are the ones who are least likely to have children in their households that are under the age of 18, unless they are living in households with grandchildren. Additionally, Rampell could have carried out tests to determine if the differences that exist, especially between the income groups are statistically significant. Rampell (2012) could also include additional statistics on the following: i. Male and female viewers within the different categories; ii. Occupational groups; and iii. Types of programs people watch most. Even though the average number of hours men spend watching television is higher than that for women, it is not clear whether this is so for all the categories shown in the graph presented.

Reading report Essay Example | Topics and Well Written Essays - 2000 words
Reading report - Essay Example It is important to understand that human beings are responsible for building and assembling of computers. For this reason, it is important to distinguish between a strong artificial intelligence and a weak intelligence. One of such critics is John Searle who describes strong artificial intelligence with regard to the computer is that it is able to formulate and test hypothesis in a more rigorous and precise fashion with very minimal errors. However, Searle points out that the basis of the strength and precision of computer is not the brain but the programs, which have been installed in the computer. This means that computers have cognitive states, which are much stronger and accurate compared to that of a human being. A Turing test is the ability of the computer or a machine to give and express intelligent behavior, which is almost equivalent and is indistinguishable from human beings. Allan Turing who aimed at determining if computers can think developed this concept in 1950 (John R . Searle 54). In his test, he was not refereeing to the ability of the machines offering the right answers to the question but how the answers are closely linked to human response. The test therefore did not consider audio receptions but relied on text only channels. The test relies on artificial intelligence since it involves machines in testing if the computer is able to give accurate and precise answers. As expected Allan Turing test did not go without criticism. From a philosophical point of view Descartes agrees with the Turing test on the basis of automation but he was quick to denounce the test on the basis that it human beings can think and give answers and that machines can give the right answers and cannot think. It therefore means that even though machines can interpret information and give the right answers that do not qualify them to be superior to human on the basis of thinking. In addition to this, Searle disagrees with the Turing test on the subject that even though computers can respond to different languages and give the correct answers, they only provided the right answers but without understanding and this is what distinguishes artificial intelligence with human intelligence. A human being can only respond to a language if he/she has an understanding of the language. However, machines can do this better with the help of coded programs does not mean that the computer understands the language. To support his concept, Searle performed a Chinese room test where an English native speaker man is placed in room and shown Chinese symbols. The man fails to understand the Chinese symbol and language through writings since he is not a Chinese speaker. In the second test, the same man is given the same symbols but this time with interpreted English codes, which gives the meaning of the words and the man, begins to relate the English words with the Chinese symbols. Searle calls this the question and answer technique. If a Chinese native speaker is taken through the same test, similar results will be produced and it will be difficult to distinguish between answers from the English and Chinese speakers. We therefore conclude that the English native speaker has been able to answer Chinese questions even though he does not understand them. This does not make the human being intelligent since he has been able to answer questions that he does not understand. It is the coding of the English and C
